Zhangjiajie China

Zhangjiajie is in central China, in the northwest of Hunan Province, more than 1,000 kilometres from both Shanghai and Beijing. It is renowned for its sheer, dramatic peaks, clear streams, thick forests, and extensive karst caves. Zhangjiajie came to international attention after the film Avatar; the Hallelujah Mountains in the movie were inspired by the Heavenly Pillar in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. In 1982, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park became China’s first national forest park.
